COMMENTS:
My work at JSC began as a machinist in the Engineering Department where I made flaw samples that were used for the Special NDE Certification Program in support of the Space Shuttle and Space Station programs.
I began my career in Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) by attending many NDE test methods including Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Ultrasonic, and Radiographic Testing.
While working within the Engineering Division I had the pleasure of working on the Space Shuttle Endeavor in California (Edwards) where inspected the umbilical bolts prior to its departure to Florida (Kennedy). We arrived at Kennedy just in time to watch Endeavor land on the runway where we then performed a final inspection of the same bolts. We were fortunate enough to stick around to witness the STS-39, Discovery launch where I fully realized I would be in NDE for the long haul as the sound waves pulsed into and past me as Discovery made its way into space.
I later joined the Safety & Mission Assurance (S&MA) contract where I earned my NDE Level II and Level III certifications. Our objective was to support manufacturing, facilities, and Engineering as needed. While working on this contract we built up the NDE program in support of manufacturing, facilities, and engineering as we continued to grow our foot print and abilities in support of all JSC projects.
My current role at JSC is with S&MA where I support Artemis, Gateway, the Lunar Terrain Vehicle, xEMU, Facilities, and Manufacturing. As part of my role with S&MA I have worked closely with foreign partners to resolve Friction Stir Welding issues on our way to completing the first Habitation and Logistics Outpost (HALO).
Personal projects include volunteering with a local high school NDE program, the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT), and NDT centered artwork that promotes the NDE/NDT industry.
