PROGRAMS:

U.S. Space Shuttle Program

COMPANIES:

LOCATIONS:

Kennedy Space Center

POSITIONS:

Engineer for Ground Launch Sequencer, Main Propulsion System and Space Shuttle Main Engines

COMMENTS:

I had three positions while employed at Kennedy Space Center in Florida :
1) Programming the Ground Launch Sequencer Software – GLS was responsible for the interactions between the ground equipment and the Shuttle to ensure that everything worked as planned. GLS also monitored / commanded Space Shuttle components during the final count:

2) After the Challenger accident during the design downtime I worked on the MPS / SSME / LO2 and LH2 software both at KSC and at SLC-6, Vandenburg Air Force Base before the Shuttle program there was cancelled.

3) For Return To Flight after Challenger I joined the MPS team working the third shift (Midnight to 8 AM) to perform engineering tasks for checkout and launch. Standboarded for MPS at level 1 (launch), Level 2 (test and checkout) and Level 3 (Ground Support Equipment testing). I later obtained my SSME and SSME Controller certifications (Standboard) for level 2 and level 3, this helped with manpower so that my other engineers would not have to change their clocks for testing on Third shift. I was the only engineer at KSC that had certifications in MPS, SSME and SSME Controllers.
