I began working on the Shuttle Program in 1980 with PRC as a clerk typist and eventually an Executive Secretary. Then I found an opening at Rockwell as the Administrative Assistant to the HR Director. I also worked as the Administrative Assistant to the Director of Quality Assurance. Then I entered the Career Development program (while pursuing my Bachelors Degree in Business Administration) and eventually was promoted to a Budget Analyst. After several years with Rockwell and USA, I was promoted to the Business Manager of USA’s Orion Program, a subcontract to Lockheed Martin – the prime contractor. With the demise of USA, I found a Finance Manager position with Abacus, and after a couple years wound up working on TOSC for one of my original managers, who I also went to high school with. This is a small community out here. We have worked together for so many years and have so many wonderful stories of how we have embraced the space program and feel honored to be a part of American history.
