COMMENTS:

Harold Lankford, my father worked for McDonnell Aircraft. He was a design engineer and worked on the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo space craft at their St. Louis Headquarters. He holds a patent on a keyed connector to help connect bundles of wire correctly in tight places. He retired after 30 years of work.He enjoyed the space projects best since they were developing so many new things which eventually assisted in medical science, new metals and things like teflon. Dad started on McDonnell’s fighter jets, then the space program and retired after working on the Tomahawk missile, which is still being used. He stays in touch with many of his fellow retired workers by e-mail.

He has a brick with his name on the North side of the Mercury workers monument in the walk of fame.
