Starting in 1968 Jim worked as a systems engineer at AC Electronics of Milwaukee, WI., the prime contractor for the guidance system and electronics for the Apollo Lunar Lander program.  He developed a real time hybrid simulation of the Apollo spacecraft and used it to developed advanced guidance techniques based on center of mass predictions for liquid fuel in a zero G environment.  He participated in the Apollo 13 rescue providing mitigation methods for guidance system stabilization for the unplanned configuration of three astronauts in the LEM while in a docked CSM/LEM configuration after the explosion of the oxygen fuel cell in the CSM.
