COMMENTS:

I started working at Kennedy Space Center on Feburary 3, 1983 working for Wiltech.  I was a Chemical Analysis Technician and work in the laboratory.  The lab analyzed pretty much every commodity used in the space shuttle processing including  Hydrazine, Oxidizer, liquid hydrogen, liquid oxygen and a multitude of Oils and solvents.  We also did some on site analysis such as Dew Points, Ph, Conductivity, and dissolved oxygen.

The best part about my job was the on site analysis that we did.  It was exciting to go to the Launch Pad to validate the pad before a launch.  I loved going to the OPF’s and the VAB to see all the work being done to prepare the Shuttle for its next launch.  Of course being out on the center and being able to see the Magnificent launches…especially the night ones.  I loved sharing these launches with my family,  I was able over the years to get launch passes and bring my Daughter, son in law and my two granddaughters out to view them.  My youngest granddaughters face would light up when the Space Shuttle lifted off the pad and when it was high in the sky she would look at me at point to where the Shuttle had been and said “again”.  That is a memory I will take with me forever.

I feel it has been a privilege to work at Kennedy Space Center during this time and be a part of the building of the International Space Station.
