COMMENTS:
Upon graduation from Ohio University in 1963 with a BSEE degree, I was commission into the Army through ROTC. Following completion of guided missile schooling at the Army’s Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville Alabama in 1964, I was assigned to White Sands Missile Range NM and served as a Missile Test Officer for the Sergeant surface -to-surface R&D program. Upon completion of my military obligation, I joined NASA at KSC on January 9, 1967. Initially I served as an Apollo/Saturn V launch operations Space Vehicle Test Supervisor (call sign CVTS) during the Apollo and Skylab Programs. In 1974, I joined the Shuttle Program Operations Planning Office where I developed Shuttle ground operations plans including turnaround processing concepts, timelines, schedules and facilities utilization. In 1981, I joined the Shuttle Mission Planning Office and managed the development of automated manifest planning techniques that were used to determine Shuttle launch dates, launch rates, facility utilization and element need dates. In addition I represented Shuttle Processing as a member of the agency’s Flight Assignment Working Group(FAWG). In 1995 I joined the KSC Payload Program Office as payloads member of FAWG. I also worked payload manifest planning including ISS assembly sequence plans. In addition I served on many related working groups until retiring on May 5, 2011.
I married the former Barbara Houpt of Cambridge Springs PA in 1972. We have two sons and 5 grandchildren, We currently reside in Titusville Florida where I served on Titusville’s Board of Adjustments and Appeals from 1976 to 2004. I am active in St,Teresa church activities.
