Robert Biggs worked forty-seven years at Rocketdyne division of North American Aviation. He started his career on the Navaho cruise missile project. After Navajo was cancelled, he worked three years as Lead Engineer in the Jupiter Program performance analysis group, and a year as Manager of the Dynamic Analysis Laboratory. For nine years he was Lead Development Engineer and Development Project Engineer on the F-1 Engine Program for the Saturn-Apollo first stage. Bob was one of the original team on the Space Shuttle Main Engine during the proposal period and worked thirty-four years on the SSME, serving as Development Manager and Chief Project Engineer. For the last few years of his career, the title plaque on the door of his office said: “Projectsaurus.” He authored the F-1 chapter of “Remembering the Giants: Apollo Rocket Propulsion Development” and “Space Shuttle Main Engine: The First Ten Years”. He was featured in the LA Times article “Rocketdyne’s Role in the Space Race.”
