COMMENTS:

Steve Domokos was Rocketdyne’s program manager on the crash program to replace the injector on the Apollo Lunar Module Ascent Engine (LEM-A).  The original engine was not demonstrably stable so Rocketdyne was given the contract to provide a stable injector.  The ascent engine was the only way for the astronauts to return from the moon surface.  The Apollo program could not proceed until this critical problem was fixed.  After Apollo, Steve was Vice President of Advanced Programs, Vice President of High Energy Laser Programs, and Vice President of the Space Shuttle Main Engine Program during the Return to Flight effort after the Challenger accident.
