Walter E. Kazban (Wally) worked for McDonnell Douglas at Kennedy Space Center starting in 1963 and he retired from the Company in 1975. He was selected to attend the Apollo 11 launch through the Manned Flight Awareness Program for his contributions on Apollo 4. A copy of the Apollo 11 Manned Flight Awareness program was left on the Moon. Copies were also placed in the National Archives and the Library of Congress. A detailed account of this document’s trip to the Moon was documented in “Space World – The magazine of space news” in the December, 1976 edition Vol. M-12-156. During his time at Kennedy Space Center, he also supported the Gemini program and the unmanned Delta program. He always valued his wife’s , Nellie “Evelyn” Kazban, support during this exciting time. He died before he could meet his grandson, Michael Walter Kazban, who is following his footsteps in Engineering.
